Lesson Recording Policy

 

Purpose:
Porter Education Limited records all classroom lessons for safeguarding and insurance purposes. This policy outlines how recordings are handled in compliance with UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

 

Scope:
This policy applies to all classroom lessons at Porter Education Limited’s physical premises.

 

Recording Details:
- All lessons will be recorded with audio and video.
- Recordings are stored securely on Ring’s encrypted cloud storage (home Ring account).
- Only Nigel Porter has access to the recordings.
- Recordings will be retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted unless required for safeguarding or insurance investigations.

 

Parental Rights:
- Parents can request to view a specific recording at our premises if there is a legitimate safeguarding reason.
- Parents can opt-out of having their child included in recorded lessons by submitting a signed opt-out form.

 

Legal Basis:
Recording lessons is carried out under the lawful basis of ‘legitimate interests’ for safeguarding and insurance compliance.

 

Security:
- Access to recordings is restricted to authorised personnel.
- All devices accessing recordings are password protected.
- Two-factor authentication is enabled for account access.

 

Review:
This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to changes in legal requirements.
